Year 1 - Gruffalo Class
Year 1 – Gruffalo Class Information
Welcome to Year 1! In Year 1 we help chidlren develop the skills required to become confident, reflective and resilient learners. We give them opportunities to manage their learning and challenge themselves. Independence and responsibility are important parts of this journey - pupils will be required to manage themselves in and around school and we would ask that you challenge them to do them same in their home lives.

Routines & Notices
P.E. is on a Friday. Pupils will need their P.E. kit.
Reading & Mathematics
Reading is a vital skill which, when embedded, can enrich writing and understanding. For this reason, it is imperative that we foster a love for reading. You can support at home by reading daily with your child and commenting in their reading records.
Please prepare your child to learn multiplication tables by practicing lots of counting with them: forwards, backwards, missing numbers and writing numbers!
Homework will be set on a Friday and should be returned to school by the following Wednesday. There is the expectation that your child reads at home daily and practices their times tables regularly.
Registration & Dismissal
It is expected that all children arrive between 8:40am – 8:50am and that they line up with their class when the bell goes at 8:50am.
Your child’s class will be dismissed at 3:15. Please allow plenty of space around the door and teacher when collecting your child. If your child is being collected by another family member or friend please write a letter to your child’s teacher.
If you have a question or concern about your child please do not hesitate to speak to your child’s teacher.
